Stepantsminda-Lars Road Closed, 1098 Vehicles Piled Up on Russian Side
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of February 10 at 16:30, several roads in Armenia are closed or difficult to traverse. The roads leading to the Amberd Fortress and Kari Lake in the Aragatsotn region, as well as the Vardenyats Pass, are closed.
The Saravan-Zanger section is closed to trucks with trailers, and difficult for others to navigate due to heavy snowfall. Difficult road conditions have been reported in the Chaini turns, Jermuk-Gndevaz, Sotk-Karvachar, and inter-community roads in the Aragatsotn region, particularly around Aparan and Aragats.
In the regions of Kotayk, Gegharkunik, Lori, Shirak, and Syunik, there are patches of black ice on the roads. According to information from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Crisis Management Center of the North Ossetia branch of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed to all types of vehicles.
The Crisis Management Center of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations has also reported that there are currently 1098 vehicles piled up on the Russian side, including 950 trucks and 148 passenger cars.
