Global Stockpile of Medical Protective Masks Depleted: WHO
Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has announced that the stockpile of medical protective masks for the next 4-6 months has been depleted. The official emphasized that the demand for masks has surged a hundredfold amidst the coronavirus pandemic in China, leading to a twentyfold increase in their prices.
The WHO chief noted that personal protective equipment is primarily needed for patients, their caregivers, and healthcare personnel. He urged countries with low levels of infection not to stockpile masks.
