Weapons from the 80s Exist and Will Last a Long Time: Movses Hakobyan

The army is in a state where it can fulfill its assigned tasks, but if anyone believes that this is sufficient and that new armaments do not need to be acquired, they are mistaken. The army continually requires modernization, and there will always be a necessity for new weaponry. This was stated today by Movses Hakobyan, head of the Ministry of Defense’s Military Inspection Service, during a conversation with journalists, as reported by tert.am.

In response to a comment regarding Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s recent statement that the era of 80s weaponry is over, Hakobyan replied: “I do not want to comment on the Prime Minister’s words, but the weapons from the 80s have been, are, and will continue to be in our army for a long time. They will be utilized because they are among the best weapons available.”

He noted that weapons produced back in 1967 are still considered some of the best in the world today. According to him, this particularly applies to the AK assault rifle.
