Illegal Tree Cutting with Fake License Plates in Ijevan

On January 20, in order to identify and prevent environmental violations, officers from the Ijevan Division of the Police, alongside traffic police, checked a VAZ-2106 vehicle loaded with timber at the stationary checkpoint in the Dilijan bends. The driver, a 31-year-old resident of Aygehovit village, failed to present any documents proving the legality of the timber, stating that it was obtained illegally by cutting down five acacia trees in the vicinity of their village last week.

The vehicle, along with the timber, has been taken to a securely protected area of the Ijevan Division of the Police. Authorities discovered that, in addition to cutting down trees, the driver also falsified the vehicle's license plates. Investigations are ongoing regarding the circumstances of the case, and materials are being prepared on the incident.
