Taxi Drivers and Couriers to Lose Driving Licenses Quickly Due to Point System: Protest

A protest is taking place in front of the Government of Armenia. The "Law Boundary" company and drivers are protesting against the point system for traffic fines.

Drivers note that due to the point system, taxi drivers and couriers will lose their driving licenses in a very short time. It should be recalled that as of January 1 of this year, provisions regarding violations recorded by surveillance cameras and speed cameras have come into effect.

It is known that each driver is given 9 points, which cover approximately a quarter of the established traffic violations. If a driver uses all their points within one year, they are suspended from driving for six months. However, they can take a theoretical exam after three months and restore their driving rights. If they do not use this right, their driving license is automatically restored after six months of the suspension. The driver is given 9 points again. If they use up these points again within one year, this time the driving license is taken away, and the driver must pass theoretical and practical exams after a year.

Additionally, there is another option: if points are depleted, the driver can take an exam and receive a few extra points.
