Regional 'Shilaplav' Postponed Indefinitely

Ruben Melikyan, co-founder of the NGO 'Legal Way', former Deputy Minister of Justice, and former Human Rights Defender of Artsakh, has posted on his Facebook page:

“From President Trump’s words and their interpretations, I understood that the regional 'shilaplav' is postponed indefinitely. Divine Providence is once again giving us time and opportunity to be more prepared when the moment of trial comes. It gives us time and opportunity to seriously think about serious matters.

Time and opportunity to reflect on how to overcome the toxic, malevolent, divisive, and hate-filled public atmosphere that exists among us. Time and opportunity to consider what the formula for our solidarity is. Time and opportunity to think seriously about which virtues and values should be encouraged in our society and which ideas should be ignored and sent to the margins.

Time and opportunity to contemplate what is essential and what is secondary in our public agenda, and why the secondary overshadows the important and critically important issues. Time and opportunity to deliberate on what qualities leaders of the Armenian state should possess.

You may disagree and not believe that the 'moment of trial' will come someday and that we must be prepared. But I believe you will agree: it is better to overestimate and 'err' by being more prepared than to underestimate, err, and remain unprepared.”
