Health Ministry Employees to Meet Protesting Medical Workers in Maralik
The working group of the Ministry of Health has traveled to Maralik to meet with the medical staff of the Maralik Medical Ambulatory. This was reported by Alina Nikoghosyan, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, in a Facebook post.
"The Ministry of Health is monitoring the events unfolding in Maralik, where employees of the maternity clinic and the hospital have blocked the road," wrote the spokesperson.
It is worth recalling that since early this morning, a group of residents from Maralik city and nearby villages in the Shirak region have blocked a section of the Yerevan-Gyumri inter-state highway. The reason is the cessation of funding for the maternity services of the Maralik medical ambulatory, following the decision of the Minister of Health effective January 1, 2020. The process of closing the Maralik maternity clinic had begun back in 2017 on the same grounds.
