Community Leader Causes Damage of Approximately 62 Million Drams to Community
During the investigation of a criminal case being pursued under the second part of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia at the Investigative Department of the State Revenue Committee, a case of embezzlement by the head of the Baghramyan community has been uncovered. This information has been reported by the Public Relations Department of the State Revenue Committee.
Specifically, it has been established that the head of the Baghramyan community, being aware that a company engaged in large-scale agricultural activities in his community and adjacent areas sought to acquire new land plots and expand its operations, failed to provide the company's representatives with correct information regarding the ownership of land plots belonging to the community. His intention was to privatize the land plots recorded on the community's balance sheet and sell them to the buyer at an exorbitantly inflated price.
For this purpose, the community leader organized the sale of the land plots through intermediary means and provided false information, stating that the community had no land plots available for sale. During this time, the head of the Baghramyan community abused his official position against the community's interests for profit-seeking purposes, having received the consent of community council members, and organized a formal auction for the sale of the required land plot, where his relative won the bid.
As a result, the community leader sold that plot of land to his relative at a significantly lower price than its market value, at over 9 million drams. Subsequently, the relative sold the land plots to the purchasing company at a pre-agreed price of around 71 million drams, causing substantial damage to the community of about 62 million drams.
