Revazyan on Increasing Salaries for Civil Aviation Employees

If salaries in civil aviation are very low and good specialists move to other fields, it becomes very difficult to ensure oversight at that level. This was stated today, on December 16, during a conversation with journalists, by Tatavik Revazyan, the head of the Civil Aviation Committee, addressing the issue of the European Commission tightening control over Armenia's Civil Aviation Committee.

According to her, concrete steps have already begun to be taken to amend the legislation, which would allow for an increase in salaries. 'This will not be at the expense of the budget; instead, we need to start charging for our services. This is an accepted model worldwide. Personally, over the past year, I have spoken with the heads of civil aviation from more than 80 countries, and they all said that you need to become a self-financing entity that charges fees, for example, for registering an airline. In the Netherlands, if you want to register an airline, you pay 25,000 euros, while in Armenia, it's free. If you are a pilot and want to extend your license, that is free in Armenia as well. As soon as we start charging for our services, we will have the funds to significantly raise salaries and attract new specialists, retrain everyone,' she noted.
