Azerbaijan Provides Explanation Regarding the Wounding of Georgian Shepherd

The Azerbaijani border service has issued a statement regarding an incident involving a Georgian shepherd who was injured by Azerbaijani border guards in the vicinity of David Gareja.

"When border guards attempted to drive a flock back into Georgian territory, more than ten shepherds accompanying the flock attacked the border guards. Initially, the border guards fired warning shots into the air, but this did not help, and they were forced to shoot in the direction of the dogs. Only after this did the members of the border unit notice the injured shepherd on the ground and transport him to a medical facility. His life is not in danger. Later, the identity of the shepherd was confirmed, revealing that he is an Azerbaijani citizen from Georgia," the statement said.

It was also noted that an investigation has been launched regarding the incident. Furthermore, it is mentioned that the incident did not occur in the border area of the David Gareja monastery complex, as was previously reported.
