Doctors Save Life of 1.5-Year-Old Choking on Peanut
A woman living near the St. Gregory the Illuminator Medical Center brought her 1.5-year-old son to the facility. The child was in a state of cardiac arrest and respiratory failure. According to the mother, her son, Karen, had put a peanut in his mouth and began to choke. She attempted to remove the peanut with her finger, but was unable to extract all of it, after which the child lost consciousness.
He was immediately taken to the St. Gregory the Illuminator Medical Center. It was determined that the child was suffering from asphyxia, laryngospasm, loss of consciousness, and cardiac arrest. Thanks to the efforts of the head of the resuscitation department, Grigor Manucharyan, and the medical staff, they managed to save the child’s life. Resuscitation measures were undertaken, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, intubation, and connection to a ventilator. The child's heart function was restored, after which he was transferred to a pediatric medical facility.
