Russia Ready to Exchange 224 Convicted Ukrainians
Russia is prepared to transfer 224 Ukrainian citizens convicted under various articles within its territory to Ukraine, in exchange for Russian citizens held by Kyiv. This was announced by the Russian Federation's Commissioner for Human Rights, Yana Lantratova.
According to her, the Russian side has agreed on a list of these 224 individuals and is ready to hand them over “even tomorrow morning” in order to retrieve its citizens.
Lantratova asserted that Kyiv is refusing to accept its citizens. She stated that the Russian side regularly provides Ukraine with lists of individuals that they wish to return.
According to the Russian ombudswoman, this also concerns individuals held by the Ukrainian side since 2014 and 2022.
