Video: Protest and Strike Against President Macron as Nearly 800,000 Take to the Streets

Numerous schools have closed, and hospitals are operating with teams of 4-5 staff members, as many workers are participating in the protests and strikes.

The massive wave of protests and discontent is driven by President Emmanuel Macron’s plan to implement changes to the pension system. Strike participants argue that under the president's plans, millions of people would be forced to work longer and earn less.

BBC reports that this nationwide wave of protests aims to become the largest protest in France's history. It has also been noted that authorities were aware of the impending wave of protests and tried to prepare for the demonstrations to avoid the anticipated economic impact.

The issue lies in the fact that there are dozens of different pension plans in France.
