‘Zhamanak’: No official from Gazprom or Electric Networks can include astronomical salaries in pricing
‘Zhamanak’ newspaper reports that members of the ‘My Step’ parliamentary faction Babken Tunyan, Varazdat Karapetyan, and Artak Manukyan have introduced a draft law to amend the Law on Energy. This draft proposes to regulate the salaries of employees in the energy sector.
Specifically, it suggests that the allowable expense for employee remuneration per employee included in the price calculation cannot exceed twenty times the base salary used to determine the baseline salary of public servants.
In simpler terms, the director of Gazprom Armenia can receive a salary of 10 million drams, but only the amount corresponding to twenty times the base salary should be included in the gas pricing calculations. The base salary is approximately 66,000 drams. This means that no official from Gazprom or Electric Networks can incorporate their astronomical salaries into the pricing structure and force ordinary consumers to pay for it.
