Half a Million Pounds Sterling Painting by Aivazovsky Up for Auction
Christie’s auction house in London is set to sell a painting by Ivan Aivazovsky, as reported by Interfax. The painting will be auctioned as part of the "Masterpieces of Russian Art" auction.
Significant pieces from the London auction will be displayed in Moscow from November 8-10, including Aivazovsky's painting.
The featured work is Aivazovsky’s "Sunset in Ischia," created in 1873, which depicts one of the artist’s favorite locations. The value of the painting is estimated between 300,000-500,000 pounds sterling.
The auction house's priciest piece will be Nikolai Fechin’s "Lady at the Manicure," valued at 2-3 million pounds sterling.
