Arthur Danielyan of ‘Adequat’ Files Report on Crime to NSS

Recently, the leader of the ‘Adequat’ movement, Arthur Danielyan, filed a report on a crime to the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, according to a statement released by ‘Adequat’.

“Our law enforcement agencies—the police, the prosecutor's office, and the special investigation service—continue to neglect their duties. It should be noted that the police had refused to appeal to the administrative court regarding raising the issue of Nikol Pashinyan's administrative accountability without notifying community leaders in accordance with the law before holding a gathering. The latter, on May 19, 2019, had called on citizens to block the entrances and exits of courts operating in Armenia the following morning, effectively organizing a public gathering without notifying all community leaders where courts were located.

By refusing to appeal to the administrative court, former police chief Valery Osipyan committed an act stipulated by Part 1 of Article 308 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (abuse of official powers). The Prosecutor General of Armenia and the head of the special investigation service declined to initiate a criminal case on this occasion. Following the resignation of the police chief, we also approached the acting police chief Arman Sargsyan to call on him to appeal to the administrative court regarding Pashinyan's administrative accountability, but we again received a denial.

As a result, we believe that not only Valery Osipyan but also Arthur Davtyan, Sasun Khachatryan, and Arman Sargsyan have committed abuse of official powers. We await a response from the NSS and remind that if the NSS also declines to initiate a criminal case, the last resort in this issue will be that court which Pashinyan dislikes so much and is currently encircled. No one will slip away,” the statement reads.
