Meeting Between Pashinyan and Medvedev in Moscow

During the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting in Moscow, a meeting was held between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Russian Prime Minister thanked Pashinyan for his presidency in the EAEU in 2019. “I want to thank you for your presidency, as different situations can arise; this is a certain art. You have continued this process, and I believe that everything has proceeded commendably,” he stated.

Medvedev noted that this meeting is a good opportunity to discuss trade and economic cooperation, investments, and collaboration between the two countries. “I am ready to do this; generally, everything is developing successfully on our side, but that does not mean there is nothing to improve. There are certain issues that can be discussed, and I would be happy to do that,” he expressed.

In turn, the Armenian Prime Minister thanked his Russian counterpart for the warm welcome. “Our presidency term in the organization is coming to an end. Our presidency has been effective; this year the agreement between the EAEU and Iran has come into force, we have signed an agreement with Singapore, and today with Serbia as well. I believe negotiations with some partners are going well. The geography of countries that will sign agreements with the EAEU will definitely expand. Of course, this is a good opportunity to discuss bilateral relations,” Pashinyan said. “I fondly remember your visit to Yerevan; we had a great time and worked effectively.”

He also expressed gratitude for the fact that there have been no issues regarding agricultural product exports this season. “Of course, the Upper Lars issue is complicated for citizens. It is excellent that Russia intends to start reconstruction works there,” he added.

Medvedev agreed with him on the Upper Lars issue, stating that they “intend to put everything in order there.”
