I Am Not Ready to See Nairi Hunanyan in Freedom: Andranik Kocharyan

Today, during a briefing at the National Assembly, journalists asked members of the 'My Step' faction whether they would like to meet Nairi Hunanyan and their opinion on his request for release.

Andranik Kocharyan, who participated in the briefing, responded to the question, stating, 'After 20 years, a political figure has the opportunity to apply for release through the bullet points that have turned the political course of our country. The state also has procedures for how that request is implemented. The Minister of Justice said that one of the commissions has rejected [the request], while another will provide its conclusion. There were opinions that society is not ready to see Nairi Hunanyan in freedom, as I am not ready, since Nairi Hunanyan has not cooperated with the preliminary investigation body, which has been suspended, and the case regarding the organizers was short-circuited in 2004 or 2005 through the Prosecutor General's collegium, which did not have the authority. The decision of that collegium was carried out by the Deputy Head of the Anti-Corruption Committee, Marcel Matevosyan. This was realized during the tenure of Agvan Hovsepyan.'
