Damage Caused by South Caucasus Railway Strike to Be Assessed Soon: Grdzelyan
Damage caused by the South Caucasus Railway (HKyE) strike will be assessed soon. This was stated by the press secretary of HKyE, Ruben Grdzelyan, in an interview with NEWS.am on October 24.
“The data will be published immediately after the final assessment is carried out,” he noted.
The press secretary added that railway communication has yet to be resumed.
It is worth recalling that on October 22, shortly after noon, employees from the South Caucasus Railway’s Yerevan, Gyumri, and Sanahin depots announced a strike. Railway communication in Armenia is paralyzed, with both freight and passenger trains halted.
Workers are demanding a 30 percent salary increase, but the management of HKyE is not in agreement. The employees insist that their salaries have been reduced due to the introduction of a bonus system. They oppose this because, for various reasons, they are not receiving their bonuses. The issue concerns more than 3,000 employees of the company.
