Video: The Constitutional Court has shown disrespect towards the National Assembly, Makunts says

The Constitutional Court has essentially failed to respond to the questions and concerns raised by the National Assembly that needed to be addressed or confirmed. In other words, the Constitutional Court has made a decision and left it pending, thereby demonstrating, in my assessment, a disrespectful attitude towards the National Assembly. This will have repercussions

said Lilit Makunts, the head of the 'My Step' faction in the National Assembly, during a conversation with journalists, referring to the recent developments surrounding the Constitutional Court and Hrayr Tovmasyan.

She reminded that when presenting the 'My Step' initiative, she had stated that they would be advancing with a plan for reforms in the judicial and legal system and would not tie Hrayr Tovmasyan's proposal to comprehensive approaches and solutions.

Regarding future steps, Makunts noted that they have recorded a fact whereby the Constitutional Court is neither willing to provide solutions to existing problems nor wants to discuss them, thereby deepening the crisis of confidence regarding the Constitutional Court.

“Our actions will continue to remain the same as before. We did not set ourselves the task of resolving the crisis surrounding the Constitutional Court with this initiative; this issue is absolutely unrelated to our comprehensive approaches. We will continue with our plan, which is outlined both by the ministry through a strategic package and will not be limited solely to that package. We will inform about our separate actions, and they will be at a stage when they can be made public,” Makunts stated.

She also informed that as a result of joint work between the Ministry of Justice and the National Assembly, they plan to adopt the early retirement package.
