USA to Restrict Entry of Immigrants without Health Insurance
U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order that restricts the entry of immigrants who do not have health insurance or the means to pay for it. The relevant announcement was published on the White House website.
Thus, immigrants entering the country must have health insurance that is valid for at least 30 days or have the funds to cover medical expenses; otherwise, their entry into the U.S. will be suspended.
It is noted that this law does not affect foreigners who already possess valid immigration visas that were issued before the release of this executive order. The ban also does not apply to those who hold other types of visas. In particular, the new rules will not affect U.S. permanent residents, asylum seekers, or those with refugee status.
The executive order will take effect on November 3, 2019.
