Attack on 'Hayeli' is an attempt to pressure Hrayr Tovmasyan's family, says Ruben Melikyan

Ruben Melikyan, co-founder of the public organization 'Legal Way', expects a strong response from embassies regarding the attack on the 'Hayeli' press club. He wrote about it on his Facebook page.

“I just got off the phone with Angela Tovmasyan. She is out of Armenia until Monday. The attack on 'Hayeli', clearly unrelated to the stated motives, is nothing more than an attempt, on one hand, to exert psychological pressure on Hrayr Tovmasyan's family, and on the other, to suppress a media outlet that is not aligned with the government. I am not at all convinced that the response from Armenia's law enforcement system will be adequate. Therefore, I expect a strong reaction from international relevant bodies and embassies in the Republic of Armenia that have a human rights agenda,” wrote Ruben Melikyan.

It should be noted that today four young individuals besieged the 'Hayeli' press club. They threw eggs at the club's doors and posted banners. One of them, identifying himself as citizen Davit Hovhannisyan, stated that he demands the closure of the media outlet.
