Fact: 31 Religious Organizations Operate in Armenia
Fact newspaper reports that, according to official data, aside from the Armenian Apostolic Church, there are 63 registered religious organizations in our country (in total, 64).
These include the Russian Orthodox Church with its 4 communities, the Molokane Church, as well as Jewish and Assyrian Churches, and the Armenian Catholic Church.
The remaining organizations are essentially those that society typically identifies as sectarian groups. Considering that two of these organizations have, in one case, 10, and in the other, 12 regional or community organizations, it comes down to the fact that there are 31 separate structures operating in Armenia if we count them as one unit.
Moreover, according to some unverified information, this number is by no means exhaustive, as several organizations are simply not officially registered.
Recently, there has been increasing discussion about the critical importance of the unity of Christian communities in light of the current dangerous geopolitical trends.
However, the fact remains that at least 31 organizations, with their branches, are currently active.
