Injured Officer Opens Eyes, Condition Remains Critical

In Vayots Dzor, an officer of the Armenian Ministry of Defense, who sustained serious bodily injuries, has opened his eyes, but his condition remains critical.

This was announced by the head of the Military Medical Department of the Armenian Armed Forces, Sahak Ohanian, during a press conference on October 3.

"I visited him in the morning. His condition is still critical, but a certain medication that was used to keep him in a deep sleep has been turned off for the past 20 hours. He is still connected to a ventilator, but the device is not dictating; he is dictating the possibilities of his breathing to the device, which simply assists him. Pain reflexes have somewhat restored. Today he opened his eyes. He has suffered a severe brain trauma; one hemisphere shows quite positive dynamics in recovery, while we have some issues with the other hemisphere," Ohanian stated.

The colonel noted that it is still too early to say what reflexes will recover after he breathes independently.

It is noteworthy that on September 18 at 00:20, a report was received at the Vayots Dzor police department from the Yeghegnadzor Medical Center regarding the transportation of an unconscious resident of Shirak Province, an officer of the Ministry of Defense.
