Armen Sarkissian Politely Made It Clear He is Not Willing to Just Be a 'Welcoming Man'
The newspaper 'Fact' writes that there has been frequent discussion these days regarding protocol violations related to the EAEU summit. In particular, it has raised eyebrows that the 7th official according to the Constitution welcomed the presidents of Russia and Iran at the airport.
However, it turns out that there have been serious backstage issues regarding this topic. According to governmental sources from the 'Fact' newspaper, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan initially approached President Armen Sarkissian, asking him to greet the arriving presidents of Armenia, specifically Putin and Rouhani, at the airport, and then also on the way, as he is extremely busy with organizational matters for the summit.
However, according to our information, the president politely made it clear that he was not willing to take on the role of just a 'welcoming man,' even if it was about the presidents of other countries. This circumstance greatly annoyed Pashinyan, who instructed Sarkissian to stay as far away as possible from all protocol events occurring within the framework of the summit. As a result, President Sarkissian only hosted Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
