Ukrainian Authorities Suppress Freedom of Speech: Protest Action in Media
Journalists and guests from the TV channels «112 Ukraine», NEWSONE, and ZIK have covered their mouths with adhesive tape to protest against censorship in the country and in response to the National Council's recent decisions to revoke licenses from TV channels and conduct unscheduled inspections. This was reported by «112 Ukraine».
All three media outlets suspended their broadcasts for 30 minutes; footage showed individuals with their mouths taped shut. “Such an action is a response to the attempts by the Ukrainian authorities to suppress freedom of speech in the country,” the report states.
