I Don't Know How Much Capacity the Government Has: Lawmaker on Minimum Wage Increase
During discussions in the National Assembly about the minimum wage, ruling party MP Varazdat Karapetyan suggested that it would be appropriate for the opposition to present a bill for increasing the minimum wages. This angered Gagik Tsarukyan’s MP Sergey Bagratyan.
"For instance, I am currently proposing to set the minimum pension at 63,000 drams. What I want to say is that our wishes do not necessarily align with your capabilities. We take into account that the government has limited capacity, and you are more aware of those limited possibilities," said Bagratyan.
He justified his position by stating that he never submits projects related to financing because he does not know how much capacity the government has.
