Formerly Privatized Lands Adjacent to Meghri Free Economic Zone to be Returned, Says Prime Minister
The Meghri Free Economic Zone, which was put into operation at the end of 2017, is currently inactive. During a question-and-answer session with the government, MP Mikayel Melkumyan from the Prosperous Armenia faction raised this issue: “The Meghri free economic zone is the only free economic zone granted to us under the EAEU quota. It is not functioning due to three problems. The first issue is that we are unable to obtain a final operation act with the builder, resulting in the company not having the cadastral documents needed to sign contracts. We are talking about 410 million drams; there is a minor dispute, but I am surprised why this issue is not being resolved,” he said. The Prime Minister's response can be viewed in the video of the Haykakan Jamanak newspaper.
