Aronian Defeats Karyakin and Solely Leads the Tournament Standings
Armenian chess player Levon Aronian achieved victory in the second round of the Grand Chess Tour (GCT) rapid chess tournament. According to Armsport.am, Aronian played with white pieces against Russian chess player Sergey Karyakin. Levon secured his win on the 56th move and, with 3 points, took sole leadership of the tournament standings.
It is noteworthy that in the first round of this tournament, Aronian had won against French player Maxime Vachier-Lagrave with the black pieces. In the third round, our chess player will face Azerbaijani Shakhriyar Mamedyarov.
