Stunning Revelation by Deputy Mayor Hayk Sargsyan: Tehmine Vardanyan
Tehmine Vardanyan wrote on her Facebook page: "A stunning revelation by Deputy Mayor Hayk Sargsyan. Yesterday, during a session of the financial and credit main commission, Mr. Sargsyan reported on what the additional 1.7 billion drams would be spent on. When asked whether Sanitek is also obligated to clean public parks, Mr. Sargsyan replied that yes, Sanitek is responsible for cleaning everything you see in this city, including all types of waste, even hazardous waste.
I tried several times to clarify with Mr. Sargsyan whether hazardous waste should be taken by Sanitek together with household waste. In response, he reiterated his claims, stating that all hospitals have two types of bins—one for household waste and another for hazardous waste. When Sanitek's truck arrives, hospitals pay 2000 drams to take away the hazardous waste.
I urged Mr. Sargsyan to confirm this once more before making such an important announcement, since it is a statement against the entire healthcare system. He became agitated and continued to assert that hospitals dispose of hazardous waste, starting from syringes, into nearby bins.
Based on Mr. Sargsyan's claims, I urge the Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan, as well as the police, to take measures to determine how true Mr. Sargsyan’s assertions are, and if he is not making unfounded statements, this must not go unaddressed.
Note: Medical hazardous waste includes pathological waste from surgeries, autopsies, removed tissues, organ blood, miscarriage masses, biological fluids, sharp and chemical waste, etc.
