Alaskan Resident Finds Note in a Bottle from 1969
An Alaskan resident, Tyler Ivanoff, discovered a note in a bottle in the Shishmaref lagoon on the western part of Alaska, which was written by Soviet sailors in 1969. He shared this find on his Facebook page, asking for help in translating the note.
It turned out that the note was penned by sailors from Vladivostok in 1969. In the message, they sent a “heartfelt greeting” from the Russian Navy, wishing the finder good health, a long life, and happiness.
The note also mentioned that the authors served aboard the vessel “Sulak.” This base was established in Japan in 1966 and was decommissioned in 1992.
