Similar Journalists to Gabuniya Would Have Been Fired Elsewhere: Pozner
“I continue to be asked to comment on the words directed at Rustavi-2 journalist Gabuniya. I had refrained from commenting on Mr. Gabuniya’s statements due to the tense situation. However, I want my position on this matter not to be in doubt,” stated Russian journalist Vladimir Pozner.
He noted that in all the countries known to him, a journalist like Gabuniya would have already been dismissed long ago, and it is unlikely that he would find another job in the future.
“Everyone has their opinions and the right to express them, but no one has the right to make such statements that insult another person, especially not a journalist. For me, Mr. Gabuniya ceased to be a journalist not because he holds an anti-Russian position, but because he has no right to violate the principles of journalism,” Pozner added.
