Arsen Torosyan's Close Associate Narek Vanesyan Faces Charges

The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports that Narek Vanesyan, a close associate of Armenia's former Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan, has been charged with committing fraud. Vanesyan, who previously served as the director of the National Center for Mental Health Protection, has found himself in the spotlight of legal troubles again.

According to sources from 'Zhoghovurd', Vanesyan is accused of fraudulently embezzling 3,000 USD from Alla Asiryian, a resident of the city of Ijevan, under the pretense of securing her a position as a doctor. This occurred during his tenure as the director of the Ijevan Medical Center from May 29, 2015, to October 12, 2015.

He is charged under Article 178, Part 2, Points 1.1 and 2 of the Armenian Criminal Code, which pertains to fraud committed by using one's official position, with significant amounts involved, punishable by imprisonment from two to five years.

Essentially, Narek Vanesyan has been caught allegedly accepting money for the promise of securing medical employment. The outcome of the investigation remains to be seen, especially considering that he is currently out on signature bail.
