Collision between Volkswagen Golf and ZIL Truck in Kotayk: Injuries Reported

A serious traffic accident occurred today, June 26, in the Kotayk region. Around 1:15 PM, on the 18th km of the Yerevan-Sevan highway, a collision took place between a GAZ 53 truck with license plate 621 LS 18, driven by 67-year-old Suren Harutyunyan from Kotayk, and a Volkswagen Golf with license plate 29 SL 030.

According to Shamshyan.com, the driver of the Volkswagen Golf had to be extricated from the vehicle by rescue workers using special equipment. He was then transported to the Abovyan Medical Center.

As a result of the collision, the ZIL truck, which was loaded with metal pipes, overturned. Police and the investigative unit are working to determine the identity of the Volkswagen driver.

The source also reports that the Volkswagen was turned into scrap metal, while doctors at the Abovyan hospital provided assistance to the ZIL driver, who sustained a head injury but refused to go to the hospital. However, some time later, the condition of the ZIL driver worsened, prompting doctors from the Abovyan hospital to return and transfer him to the hospital.
