VIDEO: 129 Individuals, Including 'Thief-in-Law', Brought to Police Stations
Over the past 10 days, police units serving the regions have switched to around-the-clock enhanced service, adhering to the directives of Police Chief Valery Osipyan. The objective remains the same: to maintain public order, ensure traffic safety, and prevent and expose crimes and violations.
Here is a summary of the results achieved by Shirak police officers. To execute the enhanced service properly, 70 patrol groups have been formed. Of these, 45 have been patrolling by car, while 25 have been on foot. A total of 364 police officers have been involved in the enhanced service from the regional division’s territorial units, the traffic police units serving the region, and the state protection department's divisions in Shirak.
The police have shown no leniency or tolerance toward violators. As a result, 129 individuals have been detained and brought to police stations in Mush, Kumayri, Akhuryan, Amasia, Ashotik, Ani, and Artik for various suspected offenses, including failure to comply with police demands or resistance. Among those detained are a so-called 'thief-in-law' residing in Gyumri, more than 10 criminal leaders, and individuals previously convicted of particularly serious crimes.
They have undergone appropriate preventive measures. Within the framework of the enhanced service, Shirak police have inspected over 640 vehicles and 14 residences of criminal leaders.
Sixteen vehicles have been moved to the special areas maintained by the road police, as their drivers endangered the lives and health of other road users. Of these, 11 drivers were without a license, and 2 were found to be under the influence of alcohol. A total of 106 reports were filed for various violations of traffic rules.
Concerned about public safety, the staff of the Shirak regional police and subordinate units will continuously conduct similar enhanced services, keeping all violators under surveillance in accordance with the Police Chief's directives.
