Snow Falls in Russia

It has snowed in the city of Salehard, Russia, today. According to Artyom Koshkin, the head of the Yamalo-Nenets Hydro-meteorological and Environmental Monitoring Center, this marks the second consecutive year that snowfall has been recorded during the first week of June.

Koshkin noted that precipitation is expected to stop in the afternoon, though the snow will first turn into rain.

"This is not the first time something like this has happened; the same conditions were observed last year. The snowfall is not typical, but we cannot call it extreme either. It’s a normal situation; we live in the polar region where such weather conditions are possible," Koshkin added.
