Several Million in Embezzlement at Artik Primary School

Recently, operational information regarding embezzlement by a public official was obtained by the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Division of the Police's Criminal Investigation Department.

In cooperation with officers from the Shirak Regional Police and the Artik Division, a joint operational-investigative measure was undertaken, which revealed that the former director of Artik Primary School No. 2 had used his official position to issue a work order to his brother as an electrician-locksmith for the period from October 1996 to August 2014. He did not actually attend work and was frequently absent from the country.

By falsifying information in official documents, the former director embezzled over 3.5 million drams, which was calculated and disbursed in his brother's name.

A criminal case has been initiated on the relevant articles of the Armenian Criminal Code concerning the apparent incident. An investigation is ongoing.
