Former Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly Arpine Hovhannisyan has co-founded a public organization named "Legal Education and Oversight" with lawyer Vahagn Grigoryan. According to Hovhannisyan, the main goal of the organization is to protect human rights and strengthen democratic institutions and the rule of law.

This was announced by Hovhannisyan in a Facebook post, which we present below.

“Dear colleagues, in accordance with my promise, I present the details of my further public activities. Together with my talented colleague, lawyer Vahagn Grigoryan, we have established the "Legal Education and Oversight" non-governmental organization, whose main goal is to protect human rights and strengthen democratic institutions and the rule of law.

To achieve this goal, there are various avenues, but we have chosen the most fundamental ones: education and oversight.

Our logo is built on this very logic, viewing education and oversight as interdependent and complementary elements, because education is the strong pillar that allows raising the right questions and providing objective, impartial evaluations of ongoing events.

We will operate in numerous directions, overseeing the activities of every state body and official that could threaten human rights, democracy, and the rule of law.

Note 1: We are currently working on our first report, which will be available in early March, and I can assure you that its content and the comprehensiveness of the issues and solutions presented will be unique.

Note 2: All those (lawyers and others) who wish to collaborate with us, who are interested in our ongoing work and want to be involved in the organization’s activities in various formats, can send their resumes to our email address: [email protected].

Our organization’s address is: Republic of Armenia, Yerevan, Charents 1/b, 0025, Phone number: 099 066 076, our bank account is 19300 965043604 Converse Bank (for those who wish to support our organization).

Attached is our charter for all those who are interested in or have questions about the charter.

Note 3: This page will henceforth present information related to the organization’s activities.”

It is worth recalling that earlier the former MP had announced that she was temporarily suspending her membership in the Republican Party of Armenia and would be engaged in public and legal activities, including teaching.
