National Philanthropist Louise Manoukian-Simon Passes Away

National philanthropist Louise Manoukian-Simon has passed away. We received the news today from the Manoukian-Simon Foundation that she died late at night on February 18 at the age of 85. A great humanitarian, a creative thinker, a dedicated figure of her people, and a person of noble character with a highly sensitive heart, she was one of the most renowned altruists of our time.

She was one of the key initiators and organizers of the pan-Armenian aid for those affected by the devastating earthquake that struck Armenia. Moreover, she became one of the symbols of this humanitarian effort. Louise supported the establishment of independent Armenia, the strengthening of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, and played a crucial role in the field of education in Armenia, particularly in the founding of the American University of Armenia. She not only personaly funded significant educational and cultural initiatives for the Armenian community in Armenia and the diaspora but also served as an example and inspiration for many philanthropic endeavors, carrying out numerous programs both in the Republic of Armenia, Artsakh, and abroad.
