We Do Not Plan to Conceal or Cover Up the News of a Soldier's Death, Minister
The Ministry of Defense of Armenia does not plan to conceal or cover up the news of a soldier's death; such practices have not been followed for years.
This was stated today by Armenian Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan during a joint press conference with Cypriot Minister of Defense Savvas Angelidis, responding to the lack of publication regarding the death of soldier Eduard Hovhannisyan.
“Currently, a small service investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, as the event was not related to military service. Therefore, we have not paid much attention to this issue. In today's reality, it is impossible to conceal information. You receive it from the Prosecutor General's Office, the Investigative Committee, the National Security Service, and also from the Ministry of Defense. It is impossible to cover anything up. At the same time, I do not think it is necessary to continuously voice incidents unrelated to military service that are in the pre-investigation phase,” the minister noted.
