Lifer Vagharshak Avetisyan Declares Hunger Strike
Vagharshak Avetisyan, a life-sentenced convict at the "Armavir" penitentiary, has declared a hunger strike. He is demanding a review of his case.
Avetisyan is accused of murdering a taxi driver on the Goris road on March 16, 2008. He has denied the charges and claims that he was tried based on the testimony of a single individual.
In a conversation with News.am, Nona Navikyan, head of the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Justice’s Penitentiary Service, stated that the convict began his hunger strike on January 30 and is under medical supervision.
