Details on the Initiative Behind the Meeting Between Pashinyan and Aliyev

The meeting took place at the initiative of Børge Brende, the President of the World Economic Forum. It can be seen as a continuation of the unofficial discussions that occurred during summits in Dushanbe and Saint Petersburg. As reported by Minval.az, referring to Hikmet Hajiyev, head of the external relations department of the Azerbaijani presidential office, the negotiation process is currently ongoing at the level of the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Hajiyev noted that meetings at the level of the leaders of the two countries are usually organized by the co-chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk Group.
