Armenian Man Deceives Russian Woman and Steals Large Sum of Money
A resident of Armenia met a woman through social networks, leading to a theft of a substantial amount of money. This was reported by the prosecutor's office of the Kalininsky district of Ufa, according to MK-Ufa.
A 49-year-old resident of Armenia got acquainted with a Russian woman online. He presented himself on social media as a wealthy businessman, sharing photos of luxury cars and the best restaurants in Ufa. During their meetings, he pretended to be in discussions with State Duma deputies and other important figures.
After several meetings, the man claimed that a search was being conducted at his company and that his accounts had been frozen. He asked her to lend him a few rubles to allegedly bribe police officers and high-ranking officials.
The woman believed the fake businessman, took out loans, and also borrowed 1.7 million rubles from relatives. A few days later, the man informed the deceived woman that he was contemplating suicide due to numerous problems, after which he stopped contacting her.
Investigators easily located him. He is now charged with "fraud, particularly on a large scale." The prosecutor's office has already confirmed the indictment.
