Senior lieutenant accidentally injures fellow serviceman

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident of accidentally causing a firearm injury to a contractual serviceman.

The Investigative Committee reports that on December 16, at approximately 23:40, a serviceman of the RA Ministry of Defense's military unit N, senior lieutenant G.M., violated safety rules regarding the handling of firearms in the combat position's underground facility. He discharged a shot from an AKM-type rifle, accidentally injuring contractual serviceman Armen Khachatur Harutyunyan in the posterior area of his left thigh.

A. Harutyunyan has been transferred to a military hospital.

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 2 of Article 373 of the Criminal Code, and an investigation is ongoing.
