VIDEO: Vice President of 'Armenian Eagles: United Armenia' Party Arrested by NSS

The National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia has reported the discovery of a case of large-scale fraud under the pretext of bribery, following operational and investigative measures undertaken by its personnel.

Specifically, it has been revealed that Mkher Yeghiazaryan, the Vice President of the 'Armenian Eagles: United Armenia' party and head of the Haynews.am news website, fraudulently engaged in the theft of property from others. Between February 2014 and October 2018, acting personally or through intermediaries, he exploited the trust of several citizens of Armenia, including some military personnel, by demanding and receiving bribes under the pretext of securing employment, promotions, or resolving various issues. In this fraudulent scheme, he amassed funds ranging from 180,000 drams to an equivalent of more than 10,000 US dollars, totaling approximately 4,775,000 drams.

A criminal case has been initiated by the NSS Investigation Department based on the first part of point one of Article 178 and the first part of point one of Article 34-312 of the Armenian Criminal Code. Mkher Yeghiazaryan has been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.
