Ukraine Conducts Airstrike Using Ground Combat Robot for the First Time

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have employed a new tactic in combat conditions for the first time, involving the deployment of a ground-based robotic system via a heavy drone behind enemy lines. This was reported by Forbes.

According to the publication, the heavy drone transported an ARK-1 ground robot to the battlefield, which autonomously continued its mission after being deployed. This approach is referred to by specialists as a 'parked' tactic, where one unmanned aerial system transports and operates another robotic platform.

It is noted that this method addresses the main challenges faced by ground robots, including limited speed, the risk of becoming stuck in terrain, and a high likelihood of being destroyed before reaching their target. By using aerial transport, they can reach their mission site more quickly and safely.

According to Forbes, this is the first known instance in combat conditions where one unmanned aerial vehicle has transported and deployed another robotic complex. Such technologies have been tested previously in the United States, but they had not been utilized in combat.

The primary objective of this tactic is to reduce personnel risks and expand the operational capabilities of robotic systems on the battlefield.
