This is a Political Vendetta: Harsh Statement from the 'Wings of Unity'

The 'Wings of Unity' party statement:

The 'Wings of Unity' party strongly condemns the public accusations made by the Prime Minister of Armenia against our party member Liparit Drmeyan and the clear political directive directed at law enforcement agencies.

After a government session, the Prime Minister, once again exceeding his constitutional powers, defamed our colleague, associating him with the servicing of private interests, information transfer, and alleged other illegal actions, and effectively ordered law enforcement to check his bank accounts and property.

This is another public political order to initiate criminal prosecution against an individual, characteristic of the head of government. It is particularly dangerous that Pashinyan has explicitly linked the accusations to Liparit Drmeyan's inclusion on the electoral list of the 'Wings of Unity' party and his opposition political activities. Through this, the head of power has openly communicated that a person's political choice may become a basis for the activation of the law enforcement system against them.

In a legal state, drafting documents contradicting the government's position, failing to record the Prime Minister's desired conclusion, or expressing other professional opinions is not a crime. A state official is obligated to serve the law and the state, not the political will of any official.

It is not surprising that the General Prosecutor's Office almost immediately acted on Pashinyan's statement. Such an operational response raises at least justified suspicions that this action was pre-planned and coordinated, further deepening doubts about whether we are dealing with an independent investigation or the execution of a political order.

Pashinyan's behavior is a continuation of the corruption of state institutions, the political instrumentalization of law enforcement agencies, and the political vendetta against dissenters. This also sends a direct signal to all specialists in the state system that a professional position not aligned with the head of government may later be presented as a crime.

The 'Wings of Unity' party demands from the General Prosecutor's Office and all law enforcement agencies to act solely according to the law, refrain from political directives, and publicly state what specific factual and legal grounds initiated action on Pashinyan's statement.

We demand the protection of all rights of our colleague, Liparit Drmeyan, the exclusion of any unlawful pressure, secret or public persecution against him, and the prevention of the impact of the head of power's statements on the proceedings.

Nikol Pashinyan bears political and personal responsibility for this public order of vendetta, the violation of the presumption of innocence, and the instructions given to law enforcement. We declare that any action against Liparit Drmeyan will be assessed in the context of this public accusation and political order from Pashinyan. The party will use all domestic and international legal and political mechanisms to protect Liparit Drmeyan's rights and to prevent any attempt of political persecution.
