Why has gasoline price increased? CPC presents details
The Competition Protection Commission of Armenia is monitoring the developments in the gasoline and diesel fuel markets. Ani Smbatyan, the spokesperson for the commission, stated this in an interview with Sputnik Armenia.
According to her, the commission is studying the prices of gasoline and diesel fuel, but not liquefied gas, as the liquefied gas market is considered competitive with more than 180 players, the largest of which does not exceed 9% of the market share.
Regarding gasoline, prices have increased by 20-50 drams in April. Importing companies, in response to the commission's inquiries, pointed out the rise in fuel prices on the exchange, which has been confirmed.
“The commission has conducted a preliminary study and has confirmed that the companies have economic grounds for the price increase. The study is still ongoing; it is not a short-term process and lasts about a month, and we are monitoring the developments in the market,” said Smbatyan.
Earlier, the Ministry of Economy of Armenia confirmed a partial shortage of liquefied gas, explaining that the existing difficulties in the market are mainly due to logistics issues. The Ministry of Economy has urged citizens not to engage in panic buying and to rely only on official information.
