Saakashvili Responds to Aliyev's Statement on Armenia's Transit Route
The former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, has responded to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's announcement regarding a new transit corridor in the region and the launch of direct flights between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Saakashvili remarked: "Ilham Aliyev's statement that today's transit route passes through Georgia and will tomorrow go through Armenia destroys everything we as a country have achieved in the 1990s and 2000s. Georgia has found itself in an extremely difficult geopolitical deadlock, which will soon end either with our resolution as an independent state or our liberation," he wrote on Facebook.
