New Program Launched in the Field of Artificial Intelligence: Government Approved
The Government of Armenia has approved a pilot state support program aimed at ensuring access to high-performance computing resources in the field of artificial intelligence. This initiative will be implemented in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), one of America’s largest technology companies, under the framework of the Artificial Intelligence Virtual Institute (AIVI).
This program is designed to complement the existing state support package for the high-tech sector. Minister of High-Tech Industry Mikayel Hayrapetyan mentioned on his Facebook page, "Through this initiative, we aim to support startups, research groups, educational institutions, and individual experts operating in the field of artificial intelligence by providing high-performance computing resources for the design, training, and deployment of AI systems. The program is directed not only towards promoting individual initiatives but also towards the sustainable and long-term development of the high-tech ecosystem, in line with the government’s policies of support for the sector."
The Artificial Intelligence Virtual Institute, launched by the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of Armenia, serves as an open platform for innovation and collaboration, supporting technology companies and researchers throughout the entire research and product development process. Within the framework of the pilot program, the Virtual Institute will act as an operational platform for application acceptance, identification of applicants, and distribution of computing resources, and will also serve as a virtual platform for communication and collaboration among AI innovators.
The program will be carried out by providing subsidies to AWS, where the actual computing resources used by selected limited beneficiaries will be fully subsidized at 100%. In addition, AWS will provide technical expertise by engaging AWS Solutions Architects and drawing from leading international experience. The initiative also has the support of international partners Mistral AI and Plug and Play companies, which contribute to strengthening the innovative and collaborative components of the initiative," added the Minister of High-Tech Industry.
